The Subaru SVX is a two-door, four-seat Luxury Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) that was produced by Subaru from 1991 to 1996. It was sold in the United States market from1992 to 1997.
1. The SVX was the first car to have an active torque split all wheel drive system. 2. It was also the first car to come with a driver's side airbag as standard equipment. 3. The SVX still has one of the lowest drag coefficients for a production car even today.
Subaru developed the SVX with the intention of it being its flagship vehicle. However, due to the high price tag and economic recession of the early 1990's, the SVX struggled to sell and was ultimately discontinued in 1996.
